Tips for Boarding Your Pet

Boarding your pet with your veterinarian is a great way to ensure that he or she is well cared for when you leave home. When you choose to board your pet, there are a few important tips to keep in mind. Ask ahead of time about any health or immunization requirements your pet must meet—most kennels require that pets be kept up to date on vaccinations. If your pet is on a special diet or is especially choosy about his food, talk to your boarding facility about his meals. Many kennels – including both of the Chastain operations – will allow you to leave food for your pet, especially if he is on a special diet for medical reasons. Additionally, bring any medications your pet may be taking, along with written documentation about how and when they should be administered.

Chastain Veterinary Medical Group offers pet boarding services at our Meadow Brook location in McKinney and our Preston Road location in north Dallas. The McKinney location offers the added benefit of a 5 acre walking and exercise area. Your pet will enjoy all the attention and professional care he needs to have a safe and happy stay with us while you are away. If you’d like more information about boarding or veterinary care in the north Dallas area, contact us online or call Meadow Brook Animal Hospital at (972) 529-5033 or Preston Road Animal Hospital at (972) 239-1309.
