Never cut out mats that have formed behind a dog’s ears.  It is imperative that these are clipped out with clippers using #10 blade ONLY.  Anything else can seriously cut the dog’s ear.

How to Care for an Elderly Cat

Just like humans, life expectancies for cats have grown dramatically over the last few decades. Cats can now live well into their late teens. Dr Sue and Dr Clint had a cat that lived to be 22. Of course, just like humans, elderly cats need a little extra care.

This video discusses a few great ways to care for an elderly cat. Since older cats aren’t as spry as they used to be, it might be helpful to build steps or ramps to help them up onto their favorite chairs. It’s also important to schedule check-up appointments at the vet every six months to discuss changes to your cat’s behavior and diet. Additionally, brush or comb your older cat often as self-grooming habits will likely lessen with age.

If you’re looking for a great vet for your elderly cat, then contact Preston Road Animal Hospital in north Dallas, Texas or Meadow Brook Animal Hospital in McKinney, Texas. In addition to quality pet care, we provide pet grooming, boarding, and more.
