North Dallas and Plano are noted as some of the most desirable residential areas of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex with recognition as the safest and most livable suburbs in the region. Plano was first settled in the early 1840s, though the city was almost entirely rebuilt in 1881 following a massive fire. Initially, Plano’s population grew slowly, but an influx of citizens arrived through the mid-20 th century as public works projects took place and large corporations moved their headquarters to the area.

Today, Plano is home to 269,776 residents, while the Dallas Metroplex region houses more than 6 million. As an affluent and beautifully maintained suburban area, North Dallas draws visitors from throughout the Metroplex with high-end shopping, outdoor nature preserves, and local festivals that take place throughout the year.
